Have your say on the sea

Industry, conservation groups and the public are being invited to give their views on a major piece of legislation that will improve the management of Britain’s seas.

Government is committed to introducing a Marine Bill that will establish an integrated system for the streamlined planning, management and protection of coastal and marine natural resources.

Now partner organisations are being invited to a series of three events to discuss the proposals which work towards creating clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse seas.

The first forum, at the Strand Palace Hotel, Central London, will be held later next month (Sept 26). It will give delegates an overview of the Bill’s development and give them the opportunity to discuss the proposals.

The day is open to all stakeholders but a high level of interest is expected and places will be offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

The second and third events in this series will take place in the autumn and early next year. Details will be confirmed once dates have been finalised.

Delegates can get further information from the Defra website.

Defra is committed to publishing a Draft Marine Bill by October 2006.
