So part of the BASS Blog team is in deepest darkest Nantes. It’s the Salon European des Pêches en Mer this weekend. It’s an annual event to showcase the latest tackle, boats, etc…
This year there seem to be a few more kayaks, including some beauties from Hobie. There’s also about 4 stands dedicated to Spearfishing. Plenty of boats on show as usual, along with some pretty impressive electronics (Hummingbird, etc…). Various associations and clubs are represented (professional fishing guides society, French versions of BASS, etc…), and then then normal fishing stands & shops.
The Ultimate Fishing stand is always packed, & the Daiwa exhibit is pretty full. The latest offering from Fiish is drawing a lot of attention, the Crazy Eel. The Illex and Sakura stands are also excellent. Then there are loads of smaller exhibits from the likes of Bricoleurre, Reins, Hot Rod, and various small artisan manufacturers.
There’s a steady supply of food & drink in the huge show-hall, which is keeping everyone fuelled nicely.
All of the main stands are populated with pro-guides, developers and testers, who are very helpful and forthcoming with advice, top-tips and demonstrations of techniques. It’s a very friendly atmosphere here.
Too many new items to mention them all, but we’ve filled a few small bags with shiny & rubbery goodies to be unleashed on the bass as soon as this weather relents !!!
