The BASS Show 2025 – programme

There is now just 5 days to go to the BASS show on Sunday the 2nd February 2025 at the Leonardo Hotel, Cheltenham

The bulk of the post below remains the same but we have now added the detailed running order

09:00 – DOORS Open

09:45-10:00 – Official Welcome – Andy Davies BASS Secretary

10:00-11:00 – Lure animations – Sietze Hendricks Ultimate Fishing

11:00-11:30 – BREAK

11:30-13:00 – Working in partnership with scientists – Robin Bradley and friends

13:00-14:15 – BREAK /  Britain’s hidden fishes –Jack Perks

14:15-15:00 – Estuary Lure fishing – Pat Gallagher

15:00-15:45 – The Angling Trust and the Bass Fisheries Management Plan – Hannah Rudd

15:45-16:00- BREAK

16:00-1630 Raffle and close Sean Jukes BASS Chair

Here’s the line-up for the main room – starting with the morning session – kicking us off will be Sietze Hendricks from Ultimate Fishing UK, who are responsible for introducing many lure brands to the European market including Megabass, Xorus, Duo, Madness and Sawamura to name a few.  The big man will be demonstrating how to use many of these lures and every angler ought to be able to learn a trick or two.

      

Following this we will be hearing from a number of Scientists that BASS have been working with in recent years.  Robin Bradley will host a session including Anna Sturrock and Joe Dawson from Essex University and Ben Ciotti and Rachel Turnbull from the University of Plymouth.  The speakers will cover a variety of topics including the All about the bass report and Information Hub, chemical methods, spawning timing, Supper4Science and FinVision.  They will then be joined on stage for a Question and Answer Session by Kieran Hyder of CEFAS and Hannah Rudd of the Angling Trust.

Over the lunch break we will show a screening of Britain’s Hidden Fishes, a film created by Jack Perks.

In the afternoon, bass guide Pat Gallagher will be starting with a talk on finesse estuary fishing in Ireland.  Pat has been quietly and successfully catching large bass for many years, and is starting a new guiding business, we are looking forward to learning some of his secrets!  In the second session of the afternoon we will welcome Hannah Rudd of the Angling Trust, who plans to give us an update on the Bass Fishery Management Plan.

A number of companies will be setting up in the trade room, so be sure to bring your wallets along!

Anglers Only – Clothing made by anglers, for anglers – We lovethese products, and Rory is always coming up with amazing new designs, be sure to follow their socials.

Ultimate Fishing UK – The prostaff team will be present to answer all your questions about Ultimate Fishing tackle, but be warned, don’t ask for their fish recipes nor fishing marks.

High Street Tackle will be present again with a wide selection of lures.  Danny has one of the widest selections of Ima lures and is one of the UKs biggest Fiiish stockists.

Catch and Cook PembrokeshireJoe Shaw offers guided Kayak Fishing adventures In Pembrokeshire, along with Seashore Dining & sells some lovely handcrafted lures

Jack Perks Wildlife MediaJack is a charismatic author, photographer, youtuber and podcaster amongst others and he will be bringing a few items for sale as well as introducing the lunchtime screening of Britain’s Hidden Fishes.

R3 Safety and Rescue – These guys are the UK importers of Bestard Water Rescue Boots, considered by many to be the best of the best as far as wading boots go.  They will be offering a discount at the show and it is recommended to bring your waders along to try the boots on if you would like to buy a pair.

CWolf LuresCharles Nelson is responsible for handmaking some beautiful lures in Pembrokeshire and these have accounted for many bass in the UK and Ireland.

On top angling will be there with a fully kitted out fishing Kayak.  They offer guided kayak fishing and also stock lots of goodies.
