Update – BASS 2020 AGM and Coronavirus (COVID – 19)

Wednesday 11th March 2020

Due to the worsening  Coronavirus situation, it is with great regret that the Committee has reached the unanimous decision to postpone the 2020 AGM.

We have continued to monitor the official advice and guidelines and whilst, as yet, there is no advice to cancel sporting events or large social gatherings, we feel it prudent to react in a cautious and preventative manner to lessen the risk of spreading the virus between members and their families.

The number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has increased over the past few days and sadly, so has the number of fatalities attributed to the virus. With that in mind, a number of members have already made the decision not to travel and we therefore feel that it is better to wait until later in the year, when hopefully the outbreak may have peaked and it would be safer to hold our AGM.

We realise that this news will be a disappointment for many BASS members, as the AGM is seen by many as the official start to the bass fishing season, but  this will be the only year in our near 50 year history that an AGM has been postponed.

We are also aware that some members have made travel and overnight accommodation arrangements, so would advise that these be cancelled at the earliest opportunity. For those booked at the Premier Inn, please see:  https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/faq/cancelling-or-amending.html

We would like to thank those who have prepared talks and presentations in advance of the meeting, as well as those who have worked hard to ensure that the AGM was well prepared for. Hopefully, their efforts will be fruitful at some point in the not too distant future.

If you have any questions please email: vicechairman@ukbass.com

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult situation.
